The Pledge
On our farms and in our gardens, we pledge...
Not to use any soil amendments which require slaughtering animals to obtain.
To minimize or eliminate the use of soil amendments which come from livestock farming.
To practice methods which support and maintain healthy soils.
To protect our environment by minimizing soil erosion, nutrient leeching, and pollution.
To do what we can to minimize or eliminate food waste from all stages of the food cycle.
To treat each other and all those who help us with respect and compassion and to ensure that growing food is a safe, supportive, and educational experience for all.
To both share our knowledge and be open to learning from others so we might always improve our practices.
To conserve the diverse crops of our past for the farmers in our future so we can prevent the global homogenization of food.
To plant the foods which we enjoy eating and which connect us with our own roots.
To support the local food movement and local farmers and growers.
To farm and garden with compassion for humans, for animals, and for the planet.
To grow food for a better future.
